The included online Cooking Spoon Masterclass was filmed in Alex’s South Devon workshop and guides learners through every step of the process — from roughing out to finishing cuts. His teaching style is steady and unhurried, helping carvers tune into the feel of the knife, the flow of the grain, and the simple pleasure of shaping something by hand.

Each blank is carved from fresh green, locally sourced wood, chosen for its softness and natural workability - species include cherry, alder and willow depending on availability. It’s ready to carve straight from the box 

Storage Tips

If carving can’t begin right away, the blank can be kept sealed in a plastic bag in the fridge for a few days, or frozen to preserve the moisture. Green wood naturally changes over time, so carving soon after arrival will always give the best results.
