Wooden Porridge Spurtle
A simple porridge spurtle hand-carved from sustainably cut Hazel wood.
The bark has been left on to give these spurtles a wonderfully rustic and woody feel. Perfect for stirring anything thick from jams to porridge and cake mixtures, you'll wonder why you laboured over stirring heavy mixtures with a wooden spoon!
Each spurtle is hand carved and may vary slightly from those photographed
Where Did My Spurtle Grow?!
These spreaders are carved from coppiced Hazel wood grown locally in Devon, UK. Coppicing is a traditional form of woodland management that has shaped many of the semi-natural woodlands in the UK. Periodic cutting actually prolongs the life of the tree and provides straight poles for all manner of craft and building projects, from bean poles, to hurdles, to jam spreaders
Spurtle Care:
This spurtle is designed to be cooked with and well used - don't be afraid to use it on a daily basis! The only thing to avoid is putting it in the dishwasher, or leaving it to soak in the washing up bowl
