Pair of Rice Paddles
A Pair of rice paddles based on the spoons from the war ship 'Vasa' that sank in the early 1600’s off the port of Stockholm and recovered 33 years ago. They found a good number of spoons from the ship with large bowls, designed for crew members to eat large quantities of gruel!
The scoops were hand carved and knife finished with barn red milk paint with Linseed Oil
**Everything I carve is made individually, so the wood selection, grain and colours may be slightly different from the photo.**

Where Did My Scoop Grow?!
This cherry scoop grew in Torquay, the tree grew too big for the garden and was felled by Earthwood Trees. Alex collected the tree a day after it was felled and it has provided wood for a large collection of woodenware
Scoop Care:
This scoop is designed to be well used - don't be afraid to use it on a daily basis! The only thing to avoid is putting it in the dishwasher, or leaving it to soak in the washing up bowl for too long
I always make sure my scoops are bone dry before putting them away in the drawer.
To give the scoop a new lease of life from time to time you can add a coat of Tung oil, flax oil, walnut oil (careful of nut allergies) or linseed oil, but this is not essential.
