Join us for an exciting journey into the world of spoon carving, perfect for both kids and adults looking to carve their first spoon!
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn to transform a pre made spoon blank into a beautifully crafted wooden spoon using simple hand tools and traditional techniques. There’s a unique joy in both carving and using your own wooden spoon!
This course is ideal for complete beginners as well as those who may have dabbled in carving before and want to refine their skills.
We warmly welcome families to join together in this creative experience. The workshop is suitable for Kids aged 8+. Children must be accompanied by an adult and you will both need a ticket to attend
Timings:
09:30 - Arrival & Intros (tea & coffee and a walk to the carving area)
09:45 - Carving our cooking spoons from a pre-made blank
11:30 - Tea Break
11:45 - Hook Knife Carving
12:45 - Tools Down & Return to Tea Barn (shop & goody bags)
12:55 - Finish

No previous experience required. Suitable for Kids aged 8

Venue:
Located at Lower Sharpham Barn on the River Dart, the venue is part of a rewilding project with stunning views. Use what3words: coffee.hindering.facts to navigate. Please allow extra time for the bumpy track!
Safety & Wellbeing
Alex is trained in Outdoor & Paediatric First Aid and has extensive teaching experience. Each workshop is risk-assessed for safety. We’ll ideally carve outside, so please bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear. All carving areas are within a two-minute walk from the car park, and restrooms are available along with refreshments in the tea barn.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
Alex’s workshops foster a supportive environment, allowing everyone to learn at their own pace. Carving can be a meditative experience, and many find it calming. You’ll leave with the skills and confidence to continue carving at home.
