Carve a Slingshot Workshop
The Slingshot is a childhood rite of passage! We'll hand-carve a proper slingshot capable of shooting a 20 yard range from either Hazel or Ash. This makes for a fun and engaging workshop and you'll come away with a slingshot of your own, together with a bag of clay shot to practice at home with.

This is a parent and child workshop, suitable for children over 6 who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

1 Ticket buys 1 adult place AND 1 child place.

It is recommended that only 1 child per adult attend, so each adult can supervise their child and get the most from the workshop

Format of The Day
09:00am - Arrival, Introductions, Tea & Coffee and a walk to the woods (we'll be in the forestry barn if it is raining)

09:15am - Introduction to slingshots, knife safety demonstrations

09:30am - Carve Slingshots from Green Ash or Hazel Forks

11:30m - Slingshot Target Practice

12pm - Finish

A Word on Slingshots
Slingshot shooting giving lessons in accuracy, self discipline and the satisfaction of hitting a target! The slingshots we are carving have the potential to be weapons, we kindly ask all parents to supervise their children on the workshop itself to ensure they are using the catapults as instructed.

At home we recommend children using their slingshot in a dedicated outdoor practice area and only when supervised

Approach to Learning
My approach to running workshops is to make them as enjoyable and as accessible as possible. Together as a group we create a positive learning environment where there is no such thing as a stupid question(!) and everyone is put at ease to relax into and enjoy the day.

I am a trained forest school leader with outdoor first aid and paediatric first aid qualifications, safeguarding level 3, and an enhanced DBS

Venue
Our venue is located at Lower Sharpham Barn by the edge of the River Dart, home to Ambios and a large scale re-wilding project with some of the most stunning views in the South of England!

The venue is best navigated to via what3words (professed.lions.scoop) as it can be tricky to find for the first time. Please allow an additional 5 minutes to get down the track for the first time
